What Material Is Used For The Making of The E2 EV Charger?

The E2’s shell is made out of a category of plastic called Thermoplastic, distinguished by its unique response to heat. The composition hardens when cooled and becomes soft and malleable when heated. Inherently, this is suitable in some areas of EV Charging such as:

  • High Mechanical Strength : Thermoplastics aren’t easily breakable and will withstand significant stress before deforming and breaking
  • Thermally Stable : Structural integrity is maintained across a wide temperature range that is way higher than any normal plastics.
  • Insulated Material : The non-conductive nature of thermoplastics allow for better safety from the dangers of electrical application such as EV Charging.

Can the E2 EV Charger survive through Malaysia blistering Heat?

The significance of thermoplastics as the shell of the E2 would mean that it is exceptionally durable within extreme environmental conditions such as winter. However, Malaysia being a tropical country only faces blistering heat and monsoon weather.

Weathering Resistance

Additives from the thermoplastics in the E2 allow for protection against ultraviolet radiation, which means that your E2 EV Charger will be harder to fade, crack, and weaken.

Thermoplastics aren’t absorbent of water and eliminate potential problems such as swelling or warping that would happen for materials that would have such porous characteristics.

Mechanical Durability and Performance

  • Higher Impact Strength – Thermoplastics is a has the characteristics of polycarbonate that offers exceptional physical shocks that will protect the internals of the E2.
  • Abrasion Resistance – The TPU that is used within the charging cables itself will allow for repeated bending and surface friction for longer before degrading.
  • Improved Portability – Thermoplastics are lighter and give you the ability to carry them anywhere you’d like to charge without having to worry about the weight.
  • Flame Retardant – The E2 will pass off fire from a lighter or any small sources of direct fire, as thermoplastics are also flame retardant.
