We get your irrational fear of a newly bought EV Charger when exposed to the conditions outside, hence, why most EV Chargers are primed with what’s called IP Rating. Ideally you’d want an EV Charger that has a rating if its to be installed. The E2 gives you the assurance that you need to survive everything the outside throws at it.
What’s IP Rating? Why is it important to an EV Charger?
Manufacturers know how to appropriate their product according to its usage. EV Chargers are usually done as an outdoor installation which befits the need for an IP Rating. IP (Ingress Protection) and is then followed by two digits after. The higher the number is, the better the protection offered against.
- First Digit (Solid Particle Protection)
- Second Digit (Liquid ingress Protection)
The E2 is made to withstand the weather conditions that Malaysia deals all year round. Be it rain or shine, the E2 will perform exactly as how you received it in any type of weather.
IP65, E2’s Main Body.
- 6 – Total Dust Tight (No harmful deposits, ideal for dusty areas)
- 5 – Protection from water, up to water projected by a nozzle against enclosure from any direction

Despite the ratings received, we’ve went out of our way to test it ourselves in conditions in which a customers would face themselves. The tests performed are vindicative evidence that the E2 is more than capable of surviving on an installation right outside Malaysian homes.
IP55, E2’s Detachable Charging Cable
- 5 – Dust Protected
- 5 – Protection from water, up to water projected by a nozzle against enclosure from any direction
The charging cable included with the E2 is also rated a different IP Rating in which is lower than the E2 itself but only for solid ingress. The water rating still remains the same digit, 5.
Why should you care about IP Rating
For Urban Areas
There will be different scenarios to a person’s living conditions. If you find yourself housed within a urban property that is near construction works then the dust tight capability might just not be a want but a need.
Coastal Area and Monsoon
Humidity does have an affect to your electrical components and exponentially accelerates rust and corrosion if you live near coastal. It’s much less of a problem for rainwater or the occasional water jet sprays from your nosy neighbour however. The IP65 will seal out moisture and salt leaving your E2 to operate at a much longer lifespan.
Conclusion
There’s no reason to follow suit with another easily avoidable problem such as being prone to weather conditions dealt by Malaysia. The IP 65 of the E2 EV Charger ensures that you’d have a charging companion to your EV till your ready to make the change.
